Atlanta Hawks guard Wesley Matthews will miss at least the first two weeks of the season with a calf injury.
An MRI on Tuesday confirmed a mild right calf strain and the veteran will be re-evaluated after two weeks, the team said Wednesday.

The Hawks open the season on Wednesday night at Charlotte and will play seven games before reaching that two-week mark.

Matthews, 37, signed a one-year, $3.2 million deal with Atlanta in July.
He averaged 3.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 15.8 minutes in 52 games off the Milwaukee Bucks' bench in 2022-23.

Matthews has career averages of 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 950 games (753 starts) with seven teams since going undrafted in 2009.
