As the winter weather gets drier, so does our hair. Though I use deep-conditioning hair masks year-round (I’m always testing the latest), they become essential this time of year. Saints & Sinners’ Velvet Divine Hair Masque has been a tried-and-true staple in my rotation since I was first introduced to it in 2022. (It also won a NewBeauty Award that year.) The following year it won a Readers’ Choice Award. Needless to say, beauty editors and consumers agree it does what it says it will, no matter your hair type. Here’s what makes it so good.
The Benefits of This Hair Mask
Whether you have frizzy curls or over-processed, stick-straight strands, this Saints & Sinners hair mask can help. Not only does it infuse moisture into the hair in mere minutes, but it also replenishes protein needed to repair damage. This makes the creamy formula ideal for those with dry, frizzy, curly, chemically treated or coarse hair. I’d also recommend it for anyone who regularly using hot styling tools (like me), which cause breakage and strip moisture from the hair. The result is smoother, silkier hair that looks shinier and healthier, which I experience after one use. In the winter, the mask also seems to help me with static cling.
Another big perk is the scent. I’ve always loved the beautiful Saints & Sinners scents—the brand really prioritizes fragrance—and this formula is no exception. The scent is called Zen Blossoms and I’d describe it as a warm floral. Key notes include amber, jasmine and white musk. Lastly, I love that the formula is vegan and housed in a tube (it used to come in a jar and was recently repackaged).
Key Ingredients
Keratin amino acids and panthenol
How to Use It
Use this Saints & Sinners hair mask in place of conditioner any time your hair needs a deep-conditioning treatment. I use it once a week. After washing your hair, squeeze the excess water out. Then massage the mask throughout your damp hair, including your scalp. I apply it from my mid-lengths down first, and then apply whatever is leftover on my root area. If you apply it to your root area first, it may be too heavy, depending on your hair type (mine is fine). The texture is a thick, rich cream, so the first time you use it, start with less and see what your hair needs. The brand recommends leaving it on for three to five minutes, but leaving it on longer won’t hurt anything. In fact, it will provide even more conditioning benefits. Remember to rinse the mask out really well. This is not a leave-in product.
