We may still have some time left in 2024, but celebrity hairstylist and entrepreneur Jen Atkin is already looking ahead to 2025. From hair styling to scalp health, Atkin shares the trends she hopes will dominate the healthy hair conversation in the new year.
Hair Health Equals Wellness
Everything is connected, and Atkin thinks we’ll see more of that inside-outside beauty link in 2025—specifically when it comes to hair. “I believe more people will recognize hair health as part of their overall health and wellness routine in 2025,” the Vital Proteins partner says. “A new year is the best time to re-evaluate your habits and products that work best for you, and hair care is no different. I started taking Vital Proteins Hair Complex this year and will be keeping it in my routine in 2025. This once-daily supplement helps to promote thicker, fuller hair and works easily into any routine. This fits perfectly with OUAI x MANE’s ethos of giving you simple, effective and low-maintenance ways to support hair quality.”
Effortless Styles Reign Supreme
As for hairstyles, Atkin thinks effortless and natural will lead the way in 2025. “We’ll continue to see bouncy blowouts and curls in addition to a rise in sleek hair. Personally, my favorite way to achieve a bouncy blowout is with the Mane Medium Hot Round Brush. This tool really does it all and it can also be used to create sleek hair.”
Natural Color Keeps Going
When it comes to hair color, Atkin says we’ve seen a rise in natural hues over the past few years and she doesn’t see any signs of that stopping. “I’ve seen a shift from shades of platinum and icy blonde to warmer blonde shades, in addition to dark browns and earthier tones.”
2024 Can Keep the Chemical Cut
When it comes to “trends,” Atkin is perfectly fine leaving “chemical haircuts” and “neglecting hair health” behind in 2024.
Framing + Fringe Are Still Fabulous
Atkin is a fan of medium-length hair with face-framing layers or curtain bangs, and it’s a style she thinks will stay strong in 2025. “If long hair is more your thing, long layers with fringe is something I also see being popular. It is such a chic look for winter going into spring!”
