Let’s rewind to February 2021: Madison Beer told the world via a Vogue video that Charlotte Tilbury’s Pinkgasm Beauty Light Wand was her “favorite blush ever.” In fact, she said that if she could only use one makeup product for the rest of her life, it would “100-percent” be that. Well, you can guess what happened next. TikTok just about lost its collective beauty mind and the blush sold out. Not only that, but a 50,000-person waitlist amassed and even beauty editors couldn’t get the blush for nearly six months afterward. Today, it’s still a best-seller and one of my favorite complexion products. Here’s why.
What I Love About This Pinkgasm Blush
Charlotte Tilbury isn’t nicknamed “the Queen of Glow” for no reason. “I have always been obsessed with the light tricks of Old Hollywood,” the makeup artist and founder tells me. “Having spent so much time on set over the years with fashion photographers, DOPs and cinematographers, I was inspired to create magical products and use techniques that highlight, spotlight and make the light dance beautifully on the face.” This pearlescent pink blush is one of those magical products.
There are many things I like about this formula. First, it’s a super lightweight liquid that blends in like a second skin. Second, the glossy finish is glowy and luminous with just the right amount of fine shimmer. Third, the Pinkgasm shade is a pretty rosy pink that flatters all skin tones. The list goes on. (The Beauty Light Wands also come in six other shades if you prefer something peachy, gold or rose gold instead.)
How to Use It
Twist the applicator to unlock it, then squeeze the amount you want onto the cushion applicator. Then, lock the applicator. Something important to note is that a little goes a long way. You may be tempted to keep dabbing it on (like Beer does in her video), but you may not want that much. Typically, I just use one dot per cheek for a daytime look and two dots per cheek for nighttime. Once it’s on your cheeks, blend it in with a sponge, a brush or your fingers.
Some reviewers complain about the applicator, calling it messy, and it may in fact be the first few times you use it if you’re new to Tilbury’s Beauty Wands. Like many other beauty products, there’s a slight learning curve. Once you figure out how much to squeeze out, you’ll be set. Also, if you don’t want to touch the applicator directly to your face, you can dab a brush, a sponge or your fingers on the top and then apply that way.
