In a recent interview with Allure, Jennifer Aniston shared the fitness practice she swears by for staying strong and healthy: strength training. “Strength training is the most important thing for women in their 50s. If you lose muscle, your bones get brittle—osteoporosis. We fall down, we break a hip and that’s a wrap,” she explained. Aniston’s focus on building muscle is about more than aesthetics—it’s a cornerstone of maintaining mobility, preventing injury and supporting overall health.
Aniston credits her routine of working out four times a week, often incorporating Pvolve, a low-impact functional fitness program she endorses, for keeping her body resilient. She prioritizes exercises that support strength and stability, choosing long-term benefits over quick fixes. For Aniston, it’s all about making fitness work for you, especially as your body changes with age.
Her philosophy goes beyond exercise, emphasizing self-compassion and acceptance. “We’ve got to love our bodies. It’s doing the best it can,” Aniston shared. She also highlighted the importance of mental health, prioritizing sleep and limiting information overload in today’s fast-paced world. The actress also underscored the importance of mental health, highlighting sleep and setting boundaries in today’s fast-paced world. “Sleep and I have a real hard relationship. I really want to love it and I am sure it wants to love me, but we have had a hard time, especially the last 10, 15 years,” she went on to say. “It’s just hard to shut the brain down, hard to tell the committee to stop talking. I’ve had to shut the news off. I’ve had to give myself boundaries with information.”
When it comes to a good night’s sleep, Aniston isn’t giving up. “I meditate in the morning. I stretch before bed. I’ve been really trying to work on my sleep hygiene, and I hate those words. I can’t stand ‘sleep hygiene.’ I’ve been trying hard to put myself in bed during the week at 10pm, turn everything off and then just sit there and let the world come crashing in. I’ve been trying to meet that challenge for myself.”
Her message of balance gives us some A-list inspiration for starting the new year right.
