So many of us have under-eye concerns like dark circles and crepey skin that require makeup to hide. Yes, a full-coverage concealer can do the trick in many cases, but not all. For those who prefer less pigment to avoid a cakey look, or those with more severe darkness that requires more help, Kosas has a new solution. Meet Revealer Extra Bright, a next-generation color corrector. “I think we have gained a good amount of credibility in the under-eye area, given that our Revealer Concealer is our best-selling product and a global best-seller,” says founder Sheena Zadeh. “There are so many reasons why it’s beloved: the coverage level, hydration, skin-care actives, the way it looks natural, and more. This new launch takes our concealer to the next level.”
The Benefits of This Color Corrector
Zadeh is admittedly “obsessed with her under-eyes.” On a personal mission “to get the brightest, most beautiful under-eyes possible,” she studied color theory to determine what was needed to cancel out those unwanted blue, purple and green tones. Rather than reformulating Revealer Concealer to overload it with pigment, which would change what everyone loves about it, Zadeh chose to add “the magic of color correction” to her portfolio. “Revealer Extra Bright is a serum-powered color corrector,” she says. “It’s a really incredible and beautiful example of 100-percent makeup and 100-percent skin care.” In addition to color correction, it offers hydrating and depuffing benefits.
If you love the hydrating benefits of Revealer Concealer, Zadeh tells me this color corrector contains double the amount of hyaluronic acid. “It gives incredible hydration to puff up fine lines under the eyes so they don’t look so deep,” she says. “It also contains double the amount of caffeine and 10 times the level of peptides. But, these peptides are specifically designed to target fine lines, sagging and crepey skin under the eyes. I think peptides are the most effective ingredient you can have. The use of them in this formula is what has led to our clinical results.” Those results showed that when the color corrector and concealer were used together for four weeks, 100 percent of participants saw visible reduction of dark circles, under-eye puffiness and fine lines, crow’s-feet and wrinkles.
How to Use It
“Extra Bright is super easy to use,” Zadeh says. “We didn’t want to have that really difficult, artistry approach to color correction.” It comes in five shades with pink, peach, orange and red tones that cancel out the blue, purple and green tones in under-eye darkness. “The shades are very beautifully calibrated,” says Zadeh. “I use the shade Illusion, which is a pinky-peach, and my concealer shade is 3.8. I recommend a two-step process. First, you use Extra Bright to neutralize and cancel out any darkness. I like to apply it with my blender. Then, you apply Revealer Concealer on top to cover and blend it into your skin. The two really work together to give you that super bright under-eye.” Zadeh also recommends setting the duo with powder (she uses her Kosas Cloud Set) to make sure it stays in place.
We also love the targeted doe-foot applicator, which lets you get into the tear trough area with precision. “Using color theory in this way is just like when you’re creating dimension in artwork,” Zadeh says. “When you use a lighter tone, it creates the illusion of coming forward. So, right away it looks like the hollow is going away. It gives you the effect of under-eye filler without all of the downsides.”
