Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe is getting candid about her latest plastic surgery procedure, and we’re here for it. Last Thursday, the Off the Vine podcast host had an upper blepharoplasty, aka an upper eyelid lift to correct what she calls droopy eyelids. This procedure continually ranks among the most popular in plastic surgery every year. In 2023, it took the fifth spot, according to The Aesthetic Society, pacing behind tummy tucks, breast augmentation/lifts and lipo. An upper bleph involves surgically removing excess skin from the upper eyelids that may droop as the result of genetics, aging, muscle atrophy, skin laxity, and/or fat and collagen loss from the brow bone.
“A lot going on at the Bristowe residence,” the reality star wrote in an Instagram post for her 1.8 million followers on December 7. “I got an upper bleph (take it to your group chat if you wanna be negative).” In the comments, she received an outpouring of support from her Bachelor family, including Becca Tilley, Ashley Iaconetti Haibon and Emily Maynard Johnson. Yesterday, Bristowe shared a couple post-procedure pictures (below) that show where her incisions were made on each eyelid.
Her Recovery Update
In her most recent Instagram update, today, December 9, Bristowe gave a status on her recovery. “This eye is like healed,” Bristowe said, pointing to her right eye. “I don’t know if it’s because I took a steroid pack—it’s wild. They actually took more off this eyelid because this is the one that I really wanted to fix my droop. And this this one [her left eye] is healing so much slower, but still so great. I’ve seen some people’s healing journeys from an upper bleph and mine’s actually going really well. This is day four on the healing journey and I’m just stoked.”
One follower asked if the procedure hurt and Bristowe said it was a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. “It didn’t hurt at all—it’s just itchy when it’s healing—but I also didn’t have a lot taken out.” Another former Bachelorette, Jillian Harris, commented: “I’ll be right behind you on this one. Slice me open doc.” Several other followers commented with enthusiasm for the procedure as well, saying they’ve been wanting to get it done or have had it and love their results.
On “Day 8” of her recovery, Bristowe said she was heading to her doctor’s office to see if she could get her stitches out. “I think I can because they’re like growing into my skin at this point.” She plans to document the rest of her journey, so stay tuned for updates.
