The WNBA fined the New York Liberty $25,000 on Thursday for violating rules surrounding postgame media access after Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.
Liberty players Sabrina Ionescu, Jonquel Jones and Betnijah Laney all were fined $2,000 apiece, as well, for declining to speak with reporters Wednesday night.
The Liberty lost Game 4 to the Las Vegas Aces 70-69 at home, and in doing so fell three games to one in the best-of-five series.
Liberty coach Sandy Brondello and stars Breanna Stewart and Courtney Vandersloot participated in a press conference after the loss, but the other starters on New York's star-studded team were not made available when reporters asked for them.
"By league policy, following the conclusion of a team's postgame press conference in the interview room with its head coach and two key players, any additional players requested by in-person media are required to be available for interviews in an alternate location," the WNBA said in a press release.
